The Heart o' Texas Section is excited to host SWRM 2024 in Waco Texas. Travel and local information can be found HERE - including room blocks at the MARIOTT (DIRECTLY ACROSS THE. STREET FROM THE CONVENTION CENTER ENTRANCE). The meeting will be held at the Waco Convention Center, located on the scenic Brazos River and in the midst of Waco's downtown. Home to Baylor University, Waco is a vibrant town with a wide selection of restaurants and hotels - many within easy walking distance of the Convention Center! The layout of the meeting is found on the WCC floor plans below.
The scientific program at SWRM 2024 will include daily plenary lectures, numerous scientific symposia, special workshops, general oral and poster sessions, and lots of networking opportunities. Program information can be found HERE. Over 840 abstracts have been received in all areas of chemistry & biochemistry and a wide variety of special symposia. Plenary Lectures include the Dial-Black Lecture presented by Paul Wender (Sunday evening), and lectures by TWO Gooch-Stephens awardees - Mark Johnson (Monday morning technical talk; Monday evening general lecture) and Andrew Ellington (Wednesday morning technical talk and Tuesday evening general lecture). A number of Regional Awards will be presented at SWRM, including the Southwest Region ACS Award, the E. Ann Nalley Regional Award For Volunteer Service, the Stanley C. Israel Regional Award, the Partners In Progress & Prosperity (P3) Award, and the Regional Award For Excellence In High School Teaching. Information about the awards can be found HERE.
The awards banquet will be Wednesday, October 23rd at noon.
A wide variety of special events and workshops will be offered at SWRM 2024, including ACS Career Workshops ('Finding Yourself: Identifying a Career that Matches Your Strengths and Values' and 'Acing the Interview: Setting Yourself Up for Success in an Interview') and technical workshops! There are also many special opportunities for high school teachers and undergraduates, and events sponsored by industrial partners, SACNAS, the WCC, and the SCC.
